Kisspeptin is described as an upstream regulator of the reproductive hormone cascade. After administration, it binds kisspeptin receptors (GPR54) on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus, triggering release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). GnRH then stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which act on the gonads to support sex-steroid production and gametogenesis. The protocol highlights that kisspeptin’s effects are GnRH-dependent—if GnRH release is blocked, LH/FSH stimulation does not occur—underscoring that kisspeptin works by unlocking the body’s own GnRH signaling rather than replacing it. This upstream positioning is presented as a more physiologic approach than direct GnRH or hCG use, but the page also notes that prolonged continuous exposure may lead to tachyphylaxis, supporting defined research cycles.
Mild injection-site reactions (redness/itching)
- Use aseptic technique: wipe vial stopper with alcohol; use new sterile syringe/needle
- Add diluent slowly down the vial wall to minimize foaming
- Gently swirl/roll until fully dissolved (do not shake)
- Label vial with reconstitution date and concentration; protect from light
- Refrigerate after reconstitution (commonly 2–8 °C) unless protocol states otherwise
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles
- Bacteriostatic Water for Injection contains benzyl alcohol preservative (multi-dose); follow protocol for beyond-use (many peptide protocols use ~28 days after mixing)
- Avoid benzyl-alcohol-containing diluents in neonates/infants (safety warning for benzyl alcohol)
