AOD-9604 is a modified C-terminal fragment of human growth hormone (hGH 177–191) positioned as retaining hGH’s fat-mobilizing activity while avoiding classic growth-promoting signaling. It is described as interacting with adipose tissue to enhance lipolysis (release of stored fat) and reduce lipogenesis or re-esterification (the process of re-storing fatty acids). Mechanistically, chronic exposure is reported to increase expression of β3-adrenergic receptors in fat tissue, potentially countering obesity-associated downregulation of these receptors and supporting a more fat-oxidation–oriented phenotype. Importantly, AOD-9604 is characterized as not meaningfully elevating IGF-1 and not worsening glucose tolerance in human studies, which distinguishes it from full-length growth hormone. Overall, the peptide is presented as a metabolism-focused agent with a safety profile closer to placebo in clinical trials.
Occasional mild injection-site reactions (redness/itching)
- Use aseptic technique: wipe vial stopper with alcohol; use new sterile syringe/needle
- Add diluent slowly down the vial wall to minimize foaming
- Gently swirl/roll until fully dissolved (do not shake)
- Label vial with reconstitution date and concentration; protect from light
- Refrigerate after reconstitution (commonly 2–8 °C) unless protocol states otherwise
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles
- Bacteriostatic Water for Injection contains benzyl alcohol preservative (multi-dose); follow protocol for beyond-use (many peptide protocols use ~28 days after mixing)
- Avoid benzyl-alcohol-containing diluents in neonates/infants (safety warning for benzyl alcohol)
