Adamax is a Semax-derived ACTH(4–10) analog designed for neurocognitive research. Like Semax, it is described as supporting brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signaling and improving TrkB receptor responsiveness in hippocampal circuits, mechanisms that can promote synaptic remodeling and neuronal resilience. The peptide is also characterized as modulating monoamine neurotransmission (including dopamine and serotonin) and engaging intracellular signaling cascades such as cAMP/CREB, which are often associated with learning, memory formation, and adaptive stress responses. A distinguishing feature is Adamax’s adamantane group, which increases lipophilicity and proteolytic stability. These structural changes are intended to improve blood–brain barrier penetration and extend in vivo persistence, potentially allowing similar functional effects with less frequent dosing in research protocols.
Mild injection-site reactions (redness/itching/discomfort)
Long-term human safety data are limited (unknowns)
- Use aseptic technique: wipe vial stopper with alcohol; use new sterile syringe/needle
- Add diluent slowly down the vial wall to minimize foaming
- Gently swirl/roll until fully dissolved (do not shake)
- Label vial with reconstitution date and concentration; protect from light
- Refrigerate after reconstitution (commonly 2–8 °C) unless protocol states otherwise
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles
- Bacteriostatic Water for Injection contains benzyl alcohol preservative (multi-dose); follow protocol for beyond-use (many peptide protocols use ~28 days after mixing)
- Avoid benzyl-alcohol-containing diluents in neonates/infants (safety warning for benzyl alcohol)
